The highlight of this look is the Stripe Boatneck Sweater. I cannot seem to get enough of sailor stripes! What makes the sweater special to me is the natural brick color of the stripes and the easy silhouette. It looks so good with the white Canteen pant (or any other white pant that we already own). The sweater is definitely in my wish list.

My next favorite look screams summer to me more than it does spring. Say hello to the Arianna dress. I love the sleeves and the light fabric. A major concern for me is the sheerness of the fabric and the shape of the silhouette (does it flatter all shapes?).  I will definitely be on the lookout for IRL reviews of this dress.

The next look is something that we’ve seen before: The classic denim shirt with the must-have khaki pant. I love this look because it reminds me how little touches can make such a great different. The little touch here of course is the colorful socks! The socks makes this such a fun look! I am so excited to wear fun colorful socks with my heels and brogues this spring.

J.Crew Eliza Lace-Up Boots

{J.Crew Eliza Lace-Up Boots in black, see here}

  • Size: True to size (I wear a 7 1/2)
  • Comfort: Very comfortable so far. I haven’t road tested these while shopping along Michigan avenue yet (my ultimate test for shoe comfort) but here is a helpful quote from one of my favorite bloggers in this post, “after hitting every floor at Barneys, lunch, an art gallery, a coffee break and some more shops, I was hobbling down the street.” Don’t let this scare you though, that’s a lot of walking : ) You MUST check out her illustration in this post of the boots, amazing!
  • Color: Available in black and olive moss. I was initially attracted to the olive moss color (thanks to the catalog, see pictures above) but decided to get the black because it is more versatile.
  • I love how this pair gives an edge to a simple outfit! I have worn it a few times and I have received a compliment or two each time.
  • I don’t like the material of the external platform. According to the site description, it is a “crepe” platform. Crepe white rubber to be exact. I don’t like it because it can get dirty fairly quickly. If you look at my video review, you’ll see what I mean. It looks great brand new, though (pffft!).

In a nutshell, I love them! It’s just such a different style compared to what I would normally wear. J.Crew shoes always make me feel a wee bit more stylish. This is a definite thumbs up for me!

Noelle canvas and leather lace-up booties

{J.Crew Noelle Canvas and Leather Lace-Up Booties}

  • True to size (I wear a 7 1/2)
  • The color of the canvas is a bit off in the picture on the website. The canvas is a little more on the brown side and not like the the camo/moss green that is shown on the website (see right photo).
  • They are comfortable (because of the hidden platform). If I knew that I was going to walk a lot, I wouldn’t wear these. But this is my canned response for all shoes with heels.
  • Price: Retail price was $275.00 and I got them for $70.00 (with the extra 30% off promo code). What a steal!

I love these shoes because they go well with everything – jeans, skirts, shorts, you name it. I like the fold-over collar frames because it adds a hint of dainty to the canvas and leather mix. I’ve been wanting these for a while but the price was never right until the recent promo. This is available in olive moss and black (see here) and a suede/leather version (see here). I am a wee bit tempted to get the suede/leather version in chocolate but they don’t have my size.

Overall, another welcome addition to my growing J.Crew shoe collection (yipee!)

J.Crew Lace Tee

{J.Crew Lace Tee, J.Crew Pearl-sprinkled crystal bib necklace}

First of all, I am so sorry for another half-half body picture! I’ll be better next time, promise. I received my second box from the recent 30% off promo today. In the box are the Miller short motorcycle flat boots (brownstone), Kerrington metallic leather ballet flats (in metallic pewter), and the Lace tee (black). I will be reviewing the Lace tee in this post.

The tee is see-through (not surprised) so it is critical to wear a nude tank underneath. I would even wear it with a black bandeau for a night out. This belongs in the category of what I call high-maintenance/high-risk tops. It is extremely delicate; almost too delicate that I am afraid to wear it because of the risk of snagging it. As far as the fit, this is definitely a “big” small – but I don’t mind it. Definitely size down if you don’t like the relaxed/loose fit. I think the lace married with the relaxed fit give an effortless kind of a look. Do I like it? Yes! It is beautiful! Is there anything that I don’t like about it? It’s definitely how I am almost 100% sure that I will ruin it one day. It was originally $110.00 and I paid $34.99 with the 30% off promo. Would I pay a penny more? Maybe. But just a penny. It’s definitely not worth the anxiety that it can cause because of its delicate nature.

J.Crew Apogee Necklace

Love at first sight. As soon as I received my little silver box, I giddily opened it, giddily giggled at the sight of the necklace, and then giddily tried the dazzling beauty immediately with my Tartan tuxedo shirt (as shown in photo which I also got during the 30% off promo). The combination makes me feel so stylish! I have to admit, this pairing is taken straight out of the J.Crew holiday catalog (photo below). I tried it with several other collared shirts and it works just as well. I might even wear this to work since the understated shirt balances this piece of bling so well. This was originally $118.00 and I was able to get it for $41.99 (extra 30% off the sale price). What a STEAL! Unfortunately, last time I checked, this is no longer on the website. But we all know this isn’t goodbye, sold out items frequently pop back the online store.
