Color blocking has been a hot trend in the spring and summer seasons this year and I’m sad to say, I haven’t really explored it. Sure, there’s some sampling of it here and there –  there’s the occasional green and purple bangle mix or the navy silk blouse paired with a skinny mustard belt. But I’ve never really explored color blocking with separates. I do think that color blocking will continue to reign strong this fall. I actually think that it’s PERFECT for the fall season. One of my favorite combinations is red and pink. This would look so great with camel or caramel outwear and accessories! There are a myriad of other color combinations that are perfect for fall – and it’s quite exciting to just think about them. What color combinations are you excited to try out this fall?

Amrita Singh and her Indian jewelry creations have created some buzz in the blogosphere lately and with good reason. Her designs are bold, elaborate, and beautiful. I recently took advantage of HauteLook’s Amrita Singh Jewelry blowout sale. It was the perfect opportunity to try her pieces because they were deeply discounted. One of the pieces I bought is the Shelter Island Necklace (shown in the pictures below). The list price is $150 but it is currently on sale on the Amrita Singh website for $100. I scored this on HauteLook for $38. YES! $38! Definitely watch out for sales on HauteLook and Gilt, they feature Amrita Singh Jewelry once in a while. There are also promo codes out there so make sure to peruse the web before buying! They also have an awesome clearance sale section with pieces marked down up to 80% off.

The jewelry is really beautiful in person. The colors are so vibrant and the pieces are unique and, although they look quite substantial, not heavy at all.

One of her recent releases that I am dying to get my hands on is the Elephant Enamel Bangle – gorgeous. Wow, wow, and wow.

I have a hard time believing it, but this is my first animal print garment, ever! Et voilà, I am in love. The Wild spots cardigan will forever be known as the one that sparked my love affair with leopard print. The cotton fabric is thin but it is not sheer (some thanks to the busy print). I’ve never realized until now that leopard print is very flattering, no wonder so many women are self-confessed addicts of anything leopard print. This cardigan is kind of related to the controversial Duquette Leopard Print cardigan from J.Crew that was the cause of a lawsuit filed by Tony Duquette’s company. It is mentioned in this nymag.com article. This is currently on sale (it’s not worth full price because of the material) and is a great alternative to the regular-priced Tippi sweater in leopard. The latter is in my sale watch list together with a handful of other leopard-print garments and accessories. I want them all. Sigh.

I think J.Crew stylists are awesome. Their work gives me me so much inspiration. I’ve been saving pages and pages of images in my hard drive. I am putting up this post to store some of that inspiration for future reference in a more accessible space (cyberspace!).

I know what you’re thinking. Isn’t it a little too early to wear a cashmere sweater? Why yes, it really is. You see, it’s been quite cool this past week and the air conditioner in my office makes for a ridiculously cold environment so my sweater looked very appealing to me. More importantly, J.Crew’s recent Fall season rollout is SLIGHTLY making me look forward to (gasp!) the cooler Fall season. Note to Summer, it’s an itsy bitsy teenie weenie desire so don’t go away just yet! I paired the sweater with Jewelmint’s Setting Sun necklace (the aqua, yellow, and pink accent colors are perfect with the gray of the cashmere, yes?). This necklace is currently sold out but I know there are a lot of Jewelmint fans that are clamoring for a re-release. This is a good sign that Jewelmint might just bring this back.

Have a wonderful weekend!

These films are a must watch. Go ahead, hit play!

Rick Mereki traveled with two friends to 11 countries in 44 days to make these films. Isn’t that amazing? I think the biggest lesson I’ve learned from these films is to spend more time OFFLINE. With the onset of social media and the overload of interesting content on the web, I’ve been logging too much time online. If these films don’t make you want to move Move, Eat and Learn – I don’t know what will!
